Publisher's Summary

Enter a world of gargoyle protectors, rising demons, and one girl with an explosive secret.

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens - gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.

When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again - but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed....

I love this book

Jennifer L. Armentrout is in my top 3 favourite authors so it's no wonder I like this book but I can't help it! She knows how to make relatable MCs and swoon-worthy heroes. I liked the MC a lot because she is this all-powerful creature and she KNOWS it but she's also very venerable in a lot of ways which I really enjoyed reading (listening) about.

great

it started out a little slow at first, or felt kind on juvenile but that setting changed as the story went on. it has a great story and Lauren is always a wonderful narrator.

I kept rolling my eyes...

This book is very, very YA, in all the most annoying ways. Most of the book about the super powerful Trinity either pining over her love with Zayne or explaining to us how she restrains herself from using her angelic power to not obliterate (literally turn into ash) stuff in her way. I did want to see how it ended, partly because I enjoyed the narration, but I was pretty happy that it was over when it finished.

Shadowhunter vibes, but not Clary Fray (thank god)

Any fans of Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter world will find a lot of familiarities in this one. Like...a lot.

Opinion: you just won’t be constantly frustrated by the uselessness of the heroine *cough* like I was with Clary Fray *cough*

This is some good, steamy, slow burn YA romance and urban fantasy/sci-fi action. It’s funny, charming, and I found it to be unique in its more greyscale stance on the whole Heaven and Hell/Demon and Angel thing, rather than everything being in black and white. Characters exist and act outside of the categories they’re placed in by traditional understandings of good vs. evil. I appreciated that.

Really enjoyed this book.

It was great to see how Ms. Armentrout diverged from the usual helpless heroine. Of course, she had to hide her powers at first, but when her friends were in trouble she was not afraid to use them. She is strong in character and in power, and her guardian watches over her. I would love to tell you what happens, but that would spoil the book for you, let's just say I already have the next two books in this series in my wishlist and will be buying number 2 very shortly. Enjoy.

It was good to pass the time

I found it to be pretty slow and docile compared to all the others by Jennifer.
if it wasn't for the narrator, I don't know that I would have finished it, if I read a hard copy.

Gargoyles & demons.... Oh my!

I've found another fantacy series I am looking forward to emerging myself in.

Trinity lives with gargoyles. In the battle against the cosmic powers of good and evil, gargoyles defeat demons to keep the balance of power.
Trinity is the last of her kind. And it's important that nobody finds out. As events start to take place and cause drama, fear, and even death, Trinity is forced to work with strangers, like a new Gargoyle Zain, to sort out what is causing all this conflict, and who might actually have uncovered Trinity's secret.

Wild new characters and creatures to discover, some lusty scenes and a cliff hanger to finish; this book was an excellent start to the series.

Coockie cutter JLA

This story is ok, I enjoyed it as any other JLA's cookie cutter books, I loved that zayne got the spotlight here so I do recommend it. I do need to put it out there that I enjoyed the layla/roth story more than this first delivery of the harbinger series but this specific book, wasn't my favorite from this series
