Bill Gibson (Seattle): President of Northwest Music and Recording, Inc., has spent the last 35 years writing, recording, producing, and teaching music. As an audio professional, sound engineer, clinician, and instructor at Berklee School of Music and The Art Institute of Seattle, Gibson has a unique ability to teach concepts and techniques that produce extremely high-quality audio, both in the recording studio and in live performances. As a Foursquare music pastor for 12 years, Gibson is still very active in church sound, worship music, and streaming church services and other events. His writings are acclaimed for their straightforward and understandable explanations of audio concepts and applications.
As a Foursquare music director and worship pastor for 12 years, Bill gained insights about how to manage large music and technical programs. And, he has been able to train many musicians and technicians over the years. When the coronavirus pandemic erupted, Gibson recognized a great need for knowledge about building mixes that served a broad-range streaming audience well. That was the impetus for this book, presented with the hope that many people will be helped in presenting the most important message to those who desperately need it.
As an author for Hal Leonard Corporation, Gibson has written and produced a wide range of instructional content under his own name (The Hal Leonard Recording Method, The Ultimate Live Sound Operators Handbook, and many more) and alongside some of the music industry’s most iconic professionals including: Quincy Jones (Q on Producing), Bruce Swedien (The Bruce Swedien Recording Method), Dave Pensado (The Pensado Papers), Sylvia Massy (Recording Unhinged), Alan Parsons (The Art and Science of Recording), Al Schmitt (Al Schmitt On the Record and Al Schmitt on Vocal and Instrumental Recording Techniques). Bill is currently developing instructional content with additional iconic producer/engineers, including George Massenburg, Elliot Scheiner, Chuck Ainlay, Frank Filipetti, and Al Schmitt.
