Owen Michaels, father and husband, mysteriously disappears in Laura Dave’s The Last Thing He Told Me (2021). His wife, Hannah, finds only a note asking her to protect his teenage daughter Bailey, whom he leaves $600,000 in cash before vanishing without a trace. Now Hannah must try to find her husband while managing to comfort her stubborn new stepdaughter, who lost her mother as a child.
