About this listen
Now Nixie Swisher is an orphan - and the sole eyewitness to a seemingly inexplicable crime. Kids are not Dallas' strong suit. But Nixie needs a safe place to stay, and Dallas needs to solve this case. Not only because of the promise she made to Nixie. Not only for the cause of justice. But also to put to rest some of her own darkest memories - and deepest fears. With her partner Peabody on the job, and watching her back - and with Roarke providing the kind of help only he can give - Lieutenant Eve Dallas is running after shadows, and dead-set on finding out who's behind them.

wow, just wow
the narration is brilliant. I lived the story all the way through as I listened. Best in death so far. dallas is shown to be human and fierce to get justice for the survivor.

Love the in death series, I look forward to everyone of them. You can really get lost in the stories. I wish they made this series into a movie

disappointing ending
I have listened to all the books in the series leading up to this one. It is definitely my favourite series. I was, however, quite disappointed with the ending. It didn't have as much build up as I had anticipated and the take down was much easier than I had expected. All in all, it was a great story and looking forward to the next one!

amazing
This book gets me everytime. I laugh, cry and get angry. Nikki went through a lot but in the end Eve put them in a dam cage. Thank you Nora/JD for an amazing read

Excellent book
Of the first 20 books, this one is the best
Good story, powerful themes, a limited amount of excess drama
The case, and the general resolution, is better than most other cases
The performer is excellent, as usual

Repeatedly messing up character names
the narrator consistently has been messaging up the name of one of the victim characters' name. the character name is ACTUALLY Keelie Swisher. Susan Erikson continually keeps calling her Jenny which is the name of Linny Dyson's mother, who along with Linny's father Matt dissolve their legal guardianship of Nixie Swisher.
