Good tips to get organized!
As someone currently cleaning out a loved ones home, this book had many useful tips that have encouraged me to do my own ‘death cleaning’ when I finish my current project.

Disappointing
Some may not be surprised if this book comes across as harsh given the title, however I was. While there are some helpful suggestions in the chapter about death to help people feel more comfortable with the thought of their own end, in general this book was prescriptive and simplistic. I was expecting a book more replete with the meaning of life, whereas the philosophy of Swedish death cleaning rests more on not being a burden to others (either by causing sickness now or leaving them a pile of rubbish when you die) and avoiding being the subject of ridicule. Some may find the checklist helpful, I may download it myself. But it is extremely simplistic to suggest as she does that each task can be accomplished in as little as ten minutes per day. For some examples of these “ten minute tasks“: clear and organise your books; Clear out your email box; Delete your unused files on your computer; Sort your clothes and decide which to keep and which to get rid of. Quite frankly, I found more useful her quick overview of other decluttering methods out there, even though her tone was slightly derogatory. What could be a little bit helpful is the thoroughness of the check-list, including decluttering your mind. However, the how-to is quite unimaginative and bereft of consideration of various situations and pitfalls. This book could be quite discouraging if trying to put it into action, because the likelihood of failure is high.
