About this listen
Chasing a dream is never easy, but if you go far enough, it will set you free.
Captain Liz Clark spent her youth dreaming of traveling the world by sailboat and surfing remote waves. When she was 22, she met a mentor who helped turn her desire into reality. Embarking on an adventure that most only fantasize about, she set sail from Santa Barbara, California, as captain of her 40-foot sailboat, Swell, headed south in search of surf, self, and the wonder and learning that lies beyond the unbroken horizon.
In true stories overflowing with wild waves and constant challenges, at the whim of the weather, of relationships sweet and sour, of nature's marvels and colorful cultures, Liz captures her voyage in gripping detail in this memoir, sharing tales of sailing in high seas, of solitude and surprises, of finding connection to the earth and commitment to living in harmony with it. She witnesses how her dream leads her to understanding the unity of all things.
More than 10 years, 20,000 miles, countless adventures, and one cat later, she's still out there.

A must listen
What a beautiful story and so lucky the author read this herself. A great listen.

Loved all of it
Loved all aspects of this book. Adventure. Dreams. Hope. Environmental issues, relationship issues, practical issues with repairs, mentorship and of course sailing and surfing. Dreamy combo. Perfect listen for a cold January in Canada.

A girl in her own world.
I listened carefully to this book, some parts a few times over, trying to understand this lady. Yes she had a lot of gumption to do what she did. I don't want to bash her, because I think she is a good person and means well and seems like a nice person. But she writes from her own little world that she knows, a background with opportunity and support from a lot of people. I don't know if she will ever know, or experience the other side of the tracks, first hand. But that's fine she created for herself a good life. I didn't think she was any more heroic than a lot of young people struggling through their twenties and thirties. I think she used a lot of people along the way and it's a real wonder how people got sucked into her life and donated to her.

Poorly written
Poorly written and terrible narration I’ve listened to dozens of books, and this is by far the worst

I couldn't listen more than a couple hours.
I have had enough after a couple hours of listening. I am sure she is a great human being but I just can't be inspired by someone that seems to attract all the support in the world and yet sound so whinny.
I can't identify with her.
