Publisher's Summary

What would a mad man do with a real weapon of mass destruction? Simple. He would use it. In the near future, that is exactly what has happened.

Derek Martell finds himself on a contract job in Iraq when the newly formed Islamic Caliphate unleashes a genetic weapon - to devastating effect.

Eighty percent of the non-Arab global population is wiped out overnight. As Derek and his crew struggle to escape the Middle East ahead of an expected nuclear counterstrike, questions plague him. Why are military personnel seemingly unaffected? How far-reaching is the weapon? And is there still a United States to return to?

With a fist full of bullets and a crew of misfits, Derek has a plane to steal - as long as he can find a pilot in this god-forsaken hell hole.

It's a different opinion, Grow up.

As most of the 4 and 5-star reviews have said, it's a decent/good story with a good narrator.

For the 1-star reviewers who rated the book on the first three chapters: Yes, the opinions of the fictional character will not coincide with the American hyper left. Yes, the character leans to the right ~ Most military members tend to lean right... do I tend to agree with their opinions? No, Do I let it affect me? No. Why? Because I am rational and don't get hung up on words in a fictional story. Yes, the fictional character has opinions.

No one else but yourself controls your emotions. You give power to words and opinions, and only you determine how they affect you. When you let others influence your feelings, you lose. And the handful of readers who called it propaganda don't understand what propaganda is, as all media is propaganda. Like the hyper right, the hyper left has a narrow view of issues and is racially motivated.

I enjoyed the military vernacular and the fast pace of the story. Almost no filler, and I will go far as to say that the writing was quite good. The book is narrated from the viewpoints and reasoning of a military-minded individual. It's great to read a fictional military book that doesn't have 'zombies' as the antagonist. This series will be grounded in reality, gritty and holds no punches.
