About this listen
New York Times best seller
In this collection of personal essays, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood reveals stories about life, love, and working as a woman in Hollywood - along with behind-the-scenes dispatches from the set of the new Gilmore Girls, where she plays the fast-talking Lorelai Gilmore once again. In Talking as Fast as I Can, Lauren Graham hits pause for a moment and looks back on her life, sharing laugh-out-loud stories about growing up, starting out as an actress, and, years later, sitting in her trailer on the Parenthood set and asking herself, “Did you, um, make it?” She opens up about the challenges of being single in Hollywood (“Strangers were worried about me; that’s how long I was single!”), the time she was asked to audition her butt for a role, and her experience being a judge on Project Runway (“It’s like I had a fashion-induced blackout”).
In “What It Was Like, Part One”, Graham sits down for an epic Gilmore Girls marathon and reflects on being cast as the fast-talking Lorelai Gilmore. The essay “What It Was Like, Part Two” reveals how it felt to pick up the role again nine years later and what doing so has meant to her. Some more things you will learn about Lauren: She once tried to go vegan just to bond with Ellen DeGeneres, she’s aware that meeting guys at awards shows has its pitfalls (“If you’re meeting som

Story
Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery. Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.

Good read
Overall the book was good. I enjoy when the author reads their own book. I’m happy I choose audible, because I can say I got bored a few times in the book and caught myself reading or doing other things but I was always able to pick up where it left off lol

Her voice and the emotion in it as she reads is electrifying. After the last chapter, I wanted there to be more! Her take on things, especially old lady Jackson was so engaging and spot on for me. Can't wait for the next book!!!!

I love this woman!
I love this woman. I think we'd be best friends if we met in person. This is another book I'd definitely recommend listening to. Her voice is beautiful and calming. The way she writes is very much the way she speaks, which is well, delightful!
I loved learning more about how quickly she knew her comfort and limits when beginning acting, and because of that, was able to have control over her career and not be dragged down by the "hunger games", that is Hollywood.
I smiled and giggled a lot throughout!!!
Loved hearing about her experience in two of my favorite shows. (Gilmore Girls & Parenthood, both shows are highly recommended by me) I became quite emotional as she recounted her time on these sets, and especially the set of A Year in the Life. So, if you're fans of Gilmore Girls...and cry a lot like I do, be prepared for that!
Also, her diet tips are AMAZING and completely what I follow. (a.k.a not following fads, and eating proper portions and exercising) ;-) seriously, I have so much more love and respect for this woman.
