Publisher's Summary
Torin Mardak came to Zarhab Groht to hunt. Some idiot's been selling Callidum weapons on the black market, and he's been tasked with finding the traitor.
The illegal trading station isn't exactly Torin's favorite place in the Nine Galaxies. It's dirty, chaotic, and full of thieves and murderers, but as an elite Kordolian First Division warrior, he's the most dangerous thing on this floating cesspit, and he won't let anything stand in his way.
But when he encounters a group of humans who really, really shouldn't be here, his priorities might just have to change, because one of them is about to get betrayed in the worst possible way....
And she just so happens to be exactly his type.
Contains mature themes.

Good
It’s a simple alien romance book. He’s a special type of super soldier alien that I believe there’s only 10 of.
At one point his guts are hanging out in a fight but nano bots are able to put him back together so he’s pretty invincible. He follows and saves a human female that the human military gave basically as a slave to other aliens for weapons.
Then they fall in love, there’s some good spice. There’s some fights and they are split up for a little while but he gets her back and now they are mates.

glad it's short
Not sure if this is supposed to be funny or not? Doesn't know what a duck is but knows the work of Monet? Knows the basics of Greek mythology but doesn't comment on her name being Persephone? Serenity now? Resistance is futile? Entertaining but would not recommend or read again.

Enjoyable and Exciting
I didn't know what to expect as I've never read a sci-fi novel before, let alone a romance one. Which is odd because I've watched a lot of sci-fi movies and TV shows. I came for JF Harding's voice. I was in the mood to listen to his sweet golden retriever voice and I was not disappointed! JF Harding saying romantic and spicy things is a delight!
I tend to DNF most romance novels. They usually hit the point where the main characters come together and I don't really care much about the ending. Not because they are bad, simply no real reason to continue listening. This book, however, I had to know how it ended! Even though they come together, I was on the edge of my seat with the excitement and the thrilling heroics!
As far as romance novels go, this had a great adventure plot. It is a spin off and I definitely felt lost on some of the story but I didn't mind. It didn't hurt the readability of the story and just intrigued me to want to read the first series. I like the author's writing style and suspect the first series is quite fascinating.

Great story, bad narrator.
The narrator's intake of breath after each sentence ruined this story, otherwise it would have been great. I don't understand why some people can't breathe through their nose instead or can't take a quite breath. This should have been noticed right away and a different narrator picked so it's not really his fault but still. I have listened to over 320 book's so far and only a few narrator's did that so I know it's not normal or wanted from any narrator. 5 star story reduced to 3 stars because of the narrator, which is the most important thing in an audiobook.
