Excellent Training
Absolutely works. My minature Schnauzer is better behaved than ever and will only improve with time. Very good for the new or experienced owner. I've had dogs before, but not well trained dogs. what a huge difference. Really part of my family now.

Emphasis is on the relationship
I liked this book very much. Ritland provides good basic information for living with a dog. He doesn't get too far into the details of training specific commands, but deals with the relationship that underscores everything. As a trainer, that is my approach, and I really liked how he explained it and the emphasis that he placed on it. I have recommended this book to several people already. I intend to buy the book in hard copy because I liked it so much.
My one criticism is that Ritland needs a new narrator. John Pruden had a monotone style that was a little offputting.

Very generalized high level info
the story itself wasn't too bad. However this is not a great book in my opinion for dog training as the information is very generalized and not as specific as I would have liked. I also found that the reader was somewhat monotone and I found it difficult to follow at times.
