About this listen

What could be worse than an arranged marriage to a vampire prince?

When Luna is sold into marriage to the Prince of Darkness on her twenty-first birthday, she thinks she knows what to expect. Arranged marriages happen all the time, right? Wrong. No one could have prepared her for the reality of being married to the vampire prince.

Ever since the day he was made, Sebastian has been living according to Queen Marguerite's rules. After all, he's only alive because of her. When she orders him to marry and bind himself to Luna, a human hailing a neighboring kingdom, he has no choice. He agrees to the marriage but never expects to feel anything for her.

When their Binding Ceremony goes awry, and they are magically tethered, everything is thrown into upheaval. Unable to leave each other's presence, they must learn to live with each other—or die.

Tethered is an arranged marriage high fantasy romance filled with forced proximity, magical bindings, vampires, and world-building. It can be enjoyed on its own or alongside The Ithenmyr Chronicles.

had potential

I thought the story had a lot of potential but I expected spice to any degree and was disappointed. I found both leads to be rather flimsy, arguing petulantly and dying on the dumbest of hills. Do not pick this up if you're hoping for spice/smut.

narration

what's the point of having a male and female narrator if it's not duel narration ugh I don't wanna hear a woman do a man's voice and I don't want to hear a man do a woman's voice

Not

The female narrator just grates my mind for some reason. Logan is fine, though.

The story is way too drawn out, and way too repetitive. The same thoughts AND words of the characters are repeated over and over to the point where it’s a chore to listen to them. This makes the plot proceed at a snail’s pace and any real story-building information take forever to arrive.

Luna is supposed to be an intelligent woman, but her near constant state of bafflement, her inability to draw even connections, her lack of curiosity regarding basic, relevant information is insurmountably frustrating. It’s ridiculous to me that the vampires who had lived centuries would perceive her as intelligent enough to remark on. She may be well-educated and persistent, but sass is her more defining feature. Neither is Sebastian smart, and I had hoped that there would be more wit in their playful interactions.

Besides the weak characters and the slow plot, the writing itself has nothing to boast of. There isn’t any real message. There’s nothing thought provoking. It was overwhelmingly surface level.

The greatest merit of the story was its tropes, and I only finished the book because I was very bored. There’s better stuff out there folks.

Readable

This author could make use of a thesaurus . The writing is slow and repetitive. The story isn’t bad and the build up could have gotten there so much faster. I didn’t find it added to the characters at all it just delayed the inevitable. And I found myself rolling my eyes out loud.

cringy repetitive writing

I never want to hear the words academic, research or scholar again. I physically cringed everytime I heard them, which was non stop since so many lines were repeats. The male narrators voice is okay until he's pretending to be a female. The female narrators voice was all wrong and when she talked like the vampires it was awful and sounded more AI than human. The whole thing voices and story felt super cheesy. Im good with zero spice books but this didn't even have good plot/world building to compensate. Honestly sad I wasted time and money on this steries. I kept thinking it'd get better but it didn't.

Easy reading slow burn!!

I like the story so far. Definitely going to read the next few. I love a good slow burn so I’m grateful nothing too much has happened between the main characters. Looking forward to seeing more development in the next two books.

Those poor narrators

The narrators should be paid extra for giving a story with absolutely no life a semblance of animation. The story is bland, feeling more like a student just trying to make the word count than anything of substance

Not impressed

Unfortunately I haven’t enjoyed this book, feels poorly written and not an amazing story telling.
The narrator for Luna is I’m not sure, rubs me the wrong way.
Is way too repetitive and there isn’t anything appealing to keep on going with the series.

Repetitive, tired & bad voice acting…

Unfortunately I had high hopes for this book because it seems to be popular but I just can’t understand. Plot devices are predictable and tired, the writing is just plain bad. The author reuses SO many sayings, like “the threat of violence in the air”, “the door banged shut”, or often a double use of the same word in a sentence like “the effort taking far more effort than it should have.”
I also just don’t understand the main character or her reactions to things.
The voice acting seemed promising until I heard the male voice’s way of reading things. He makes the FMC sound much whinier and more timid than I can handle.
Maybe just not the book for me, personally!

Pretty good!

I picked it up because it sounded like a really neat collection of tropes and it was pretty much exactly what i expected in a good way
