Publisher's Summary

Over the years, startling evidence has been unearthed, challenging established notions of the origins of Earth and life on it and suggesting the existence of a superior race of beings who once inhabited our world.

The product of 30 years of intensive research, The 12th Planet is the first book in Zecharia Sitchin's prophetic Earth Chronicles series - a revolutionary body of work that offers indisputable documentary proof of humanity's extraterrestrial forefathers. Travelers from the stars, they arrived eons ago, and planted the genetic seed that would ultimately blossom into a remarkable species...called Man.

The 12th Planet brings to life the Sumerian civilization, presenting millennia-old evidence of the existence of Nibiru, the home planet of the Anunnaki, and of the landings of the Anunnaki on Earth every 3,600 years, and reveals a complete history of the solar system as told by these early visitors from another planet.

WOW!

I'm not an avid reader perse, so I found this to be somewhat of a difficult read. There were a lot of ups and downs in the narrative. It took me a while to finish, but I ended the book with wonder and a lot more questions then when I started! A great reason to jump right into the next book in the Earth Chronicles series: The Stairway to Heaven.

Fascinating story

This is my first experience with this author's work, but I found his account of his research absolutely fascinating, looking forward to checking out his other work.

Expand your knowledge

I really enjoyed this program. I'm very interested in this history and this book while it can be a bit heavy and if you're not listening you could easily be lost in the earnings, it is amazing. I recommend this.

Nibiru, Annunaki, And Sumerian Creation Myth

Zechariah Sitchin offers some thought-provoking conjecture to explain the saltatory development of human civilization throughout history. I personally find his conclusions akin to 'Flat Earth' theories (i.e. a bit of a reach).. but Sitchin's thinking is ouside-the-box (imaginative & intuitive) and at least presented logically. The Sumerian archeology/tradition line of evidence is heavily dependent on translation accuracy (and quite longwinded), but impressively researched and presented capably.

Unfortunately, reader Stephen Bel Davies lets the book down somewhat with a distinctly "average" performance. Don't get me wrong.. his diction and evident interest in the text are impressive - and Tantor Audio engineers provide exemplary technical support - but Bel Davies reads too slowly (set playback speed at 1.15X for the best experience), and demonstrates a sibilant tenor timbre/cadence that annoyingly doesn't fit the pedagogical tone that Sitchin intends. He's not terrible, but any professional reader could have been cast to provide similar effectiveness.

Altogether, this is a book that will get you thinking (and is a brilliant example of persuasive - if tangential - reasoning). Even if - like me - you think this stuff is nonsense, you can, at a minimum, appreciate the quality of the argument.. and could conceivably improve your critical thinking skills through listening to this book. And if you buy the author's posits, he does a nice job providing evidence to back up your beliefs.
Either way, the book rates 7 stars out of 10. 'The 12th Planet' is pretty dry at times (+/- boring.. looking at you, Chapter 5), but easily worth a download if you can get it as a 'Plus' selection. Even if they ask for a Credit, you won't go wrong.

ATTN PRODUCERS: An appended PDF with excerpts of Akkadian text, photographs of archeological artifacts, etc. (as in the paper iteration of the book) would improve this product markedly.
