Publisher's Summary

As a guild bartender, I can handle pretty much anything - mages, sorcerers, witches, the occasional demon. But show me anything family-related and I'd rather run for the hills. It doesn't even have to be my family.

So I have no idea why I thought spending the holidays with Aaron's mom and pop was a good idea.

Meeting his famous parents is already terrifying enough, but I've got a bigger problem. Students of his family's renowned mage academy are being attacked on the grounds - and somehow no one has seen a single assailant? Unexplained tracks litter the nearby woods, rumors of forbidden alchemy are circulating the campus...and Ezra has been acting strangely since we arrived.

Something deadly is brewing in the shadow of Sinclair Academy, and the longer we take to uncover it, the more dangerous it becomes. But no matter the risk, we'll protect the students.

And Aaron's parents too, I suppose. If we have to.

Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Demonized, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen.

Christmas with the gang!!

In this book the gang goes away for Christmas to Aaron's parents place. we get to meet Aaron's family and learn some more about the boys pasts. Secrets are revieled, deals made and bad guys plotting in the shadows while one stupid mistakes could cost someone their life.

As always I Loved this book, it has my all time favorite opening to any of the books. just saying I totally wanna try it. :)

Annette Marie is one of my favorite authors and she does an amazing job really bringing her characters and world to life. Chris Dukeheart Does a phenomenal job making these characters their own with different voices and inflections. you can tall who everyone is by their own voice as it'll it was a whole cast of actors.

Holidays with wolves and family

this book was just more reasons Tori is my favorite bar tending badass. I love the growth we've seen in all the characters and the reveals of truth around their pasts. Moreover, the connection between Ezra and Tori is probably what makes up most of my favorite moments. I can't wait to see how this all develops. Of course, the holidays at Aaron's parent's has an interesting turn with the introduction of magically enhanced werewolves.
Definitely has some of my all-time favorite plot points of the series.

I knew that fae was determined to get them to kiss, and oh my, how amazing did that kiss sound!

Would like more world building

I am going to start this off by noting that Cris Dukehart is phenomenal. I absolutely love how she reads these. Otherwise I definitely liked the story and maybe especially the amount of Tori + Sin time as the constant Tori drooling over her hot guy friends can seem to drag after a while. I know this is partly a Romance novel but that is not why I am here which does bring me to the complaints I do have with this book and all her books really. I want a little more time in her world. Tori has two really interesting Fey in her life and I loved the scene with them - it was great, I was laughing at "She died - worst episode ever!" for days after finishing this and the Guild is full of interesting characters plus Tori needs to train. I wish we could get an extra chapter on each end of the book in which Tori lives her crazy and interesting life. Nonetheless I absolutely appreciate how much Tori grows over the course of the novels and eagerly binge everything in the two guild series.

Binge worthy series

Bought this as a prerelease because I loved the rest of the series. it has the right balance of steam, plot, edge magic, and chaos. A great series to escape into.
