About this listen
Down-on-his luck con man, Anschel Zindler, arrives in 1924 Toronto hoping to change his luck. In a pool hall on Spadina Avenue in the Jewish enclave of the city, he meets Francis X. Moran, the chauffeur to the wealthy Rosenthal family, who are away on vacation. Taking advantage of his employer’s absence, The scheming Moran installs Zindler in the house on Cecil Street. With the addition of stranded actress Shayndel Levy, the trio embark on a series of confidence schemes involving Rosenthal’s immigrant neighbors. But when Moran grows overly ambitious and steps outside the Jewish neighborhood with a scheme to hoodwink a wealthy WASP widow, it could spell disaster for all concerned.
