A dedicated group of Orthodox monks (who wish to remain anonymous) have created a fresh English translation of the Masoretic Hebrew text of the Psalter, corrected to the Septuagint. A frequently asked question: The Psalms aren't in numerical order in this Psalter. Why is that? Answer: That was done intentionally. This edition of the Psalter was created for prayer, at home or in church, rather than for reference. It's not just another Book of Psalms. That means the Psalms are organized according to the established cycle of daily readings for Orthodox Christian monastic practice. We follow the same order in our churches and our homes. If you'd like more information for reference purposes, we recommend the Book of Psalms (and its accompanying notes) in the Orthodox Study Bible.

Great prayer resource
Great resource to deepen knowledge of Psalms. Chanting is simple, not ornate. I love it.

English version good for bible study
Glad to have an english version of the Psalter for study and general listening.....however the chanting could be better. I have heard better in Church and would improve the experience greatly. I find the tone used here difficult to hear and boring. #Audible1 included to enter contest.
I enjoy audible to pass the time constructively.

A prayerful translation
I listen to one kathisma each morning to help start the day. Having visited the monks who reworked this translation, I am grateful for their efforts to make the Psalms more prayerful and true in essence.

Fr John has a great voice and both the spoken and chant parts are first rate. Highly recommended!
