About this listen

A Pretty Woman tale turns toxic and deadly in this provocative and riveting thriller of sex, obsession, and murder from Robyn Harding, the “master of domestic suspense” (Kathleen Barber) and the USA Today best-selling author of The Swap and Her Pretty Face.

Natalie, a young art student in New York City, is struggling to pay her bills when a friend makes a suggestion: Why not go online and find a sugar daddy - a wealthy, older man who will pay her for dates and even give her a monthly allowance? Lots of girls do it, Nat learns. All that’s required is to look pretty and hang on his every word. Sexual favors are optional.

Though more than 30 years her senior, Gabe, a handsome corporate finance attorney, seems like the perfect candidate, and within a month, they are madly in love. At least, Nat is...Gabe already has a family, whom he has no intention of leaving.

So when he abruptly ends things, Nat can’t let go. She begins drinking heavily and stalking him: watching him at work, spying on his wife, even befriending his daughter, who is not much younger than she is. But when a body is found near Gabe’s posh Upper East Side apartment and the police tie her to the murder weapon, she can’t help but think she must have gone too far - she just can’t remember anything that happened that night.

Emotionally powerful and packed with pause-resisting suspense, The Arrangement delves into the sordid, all-too-real world of shadowy relationships between wealthy, powerful men and the young women who are caught in their web.

Kept me interested

A good plot twist .. I liked the ending. Characters could have been more developed but then the book would have been even longer.

Scandalous!!!

Story line grabbed my attention immediately! It reminded me a bit of Pretty Woman gone desperately wrong!
Read in a day so had to give this one 4.5 stars!

Very moralistic

I’m surprised how judgemental the book is, if you are going to write about the perfectly legal world of arrangements they really threw so “W——“ words around a lot. It was cringey. Let me get into the story and stop harping on what a bad person she is lol and how much harm will befall a girl who isn’t a “good girl”. Aside from that there were a lot of parts that were so absurd. The ending was so absurd. I have noticed this author is great at weaving stories but the endings are so painful. I find the twists so unbelievable and far fetched. Over all I enjoyed at least 2/3 even though I rolled my eyes at the moral police harping through the whole tale but lost me at the end with the absolutely insane ending.
