About this listen
The highly anticipated memoir from Gucci Mane, "one of hip-hop's most prolific and admired artists" (New York Times).
For the first time, Gucci Mane tells his story in his own words. It is the captivating life of an artist who forged an unlikely path to stardom and personal rebirth. Gucci Mane began writing his memoir in a maximum-security federal prison. Released in 2016, he emerged radically transformed. He was sober, smiling, focused, and positive - a far cry from the Gucci Mane of years past.
Born in rural Bessemer, Alabama, Radric Delantic Davis became Gucci Mane in East Atlanta, where the rap scene is as vibrant as the dope game. His name was made as a drug dealer first, rapper second. His influential mixtapes and street anthems pioneered the sound of rap music. He inspired and mentored a new generation of artists and producers: Migos, Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, Zaytoven, Mike Will Made-It, Metro Boomin.

Triumphant True Story Of Over Coming Adversity!
I really enjoyed listening to Gucci Manes story. I have listened to his music over the years but I wouldn’t say I was a huge fan. I neglected to acknowledge his impact on the trap music sub genre. I have a new found respect and admiration for Gucci and his music. Every time a song/album or artist he was involved in was mentioned in the book I quickly hopped over to Spotify to refresh my memory of the songs. All in all this was a great book and it was inspiring. I use to make music myself, had I known Guccis story ages ago maybe it would have inspired me to keep going. Maybe I’ll pick up where I left off.. I too have struggled with adversity. (And I’m white male, from a broken home.. rough past etc.) I’ve always gravitated and related to the life stories of people from the streets because I could relate to the hardships in their storyline… I highly recommend this book! Thank you Gucci for sharing your story with the world!
