About this listen
New York Times Best Seller
Sharon Stone tells her own story: a journey of healing, love, and purpose.
“Not your typical Hollywood autobiography. Brutally honest, restless and questing.” (O, The Oprah Magazine)
Sharon Stone, one of the most renowned actresses in the world, suffered a massive stroke that cost her not only her health, but her career, family, fortune, and global fame. In The Beauty of Living Twice, Stone chronicles her efforts to rebuild her life and writes about her slow road back to wholeness and health. In a business that doesn’t accept failure, in a world where too many voices are silenced, Stone found the power to return, the courage to speak up, and the will to make a difference in the lives of men, women, and children around the globe.
Over the course of these intimate pages, as candid as a personal conversation, Stone talks about her pivotal roles, her life-changing friendships, her worst disappointments, and her greatest accomplishments. She reveals how she went from a childhood of trauma and violence to a career in an industry that in many ways echoed those same assaults, under cover of money and glamour. She describes the strength and meaning she found in her children, and in her humanitarian efforts. And ultimately, she shares how she fought her way back to find not only her truth, but her family’s reconciliation and love.
Stone made headlines not just for her beauty and her talent, but for her candor and her refusal to “play nice,” and it’s those same qualities that make this memoir so powerful. The Beauty of Living Twice is a book for the wounded and a book for the survivors; it’s a celebration of women’s strength and resilience, a reckoning, and a call to activism. It is proof that it’s never too late to raise your voice and speak out.

Story
The first story Selma Blair Beitner ever heard about herself is that she was a mean, mean baby. With her mouth pulled in a perpetual snarl and a head so furry it had to be rubbed to make way for her forehead, Selma spent years living up to her terrible reputation: biting her sisters, lying spontaneously, getting drunk from Passover wine at the age of seven, and behaving dramatically so that she would be the center of attention. In a memoir that is as wildly funny as it is emotionally shattering, Blair tells the captivating story of growing up and finding her truth.

BRILLIANT! An Important Book for Women
The audible "Sample" of the text pulled me into this memoir ie. that Sharon Stone had had a stroke and lived to talk about it. I wanted details of that. As I listened to this book, I was amazed by her recall of events and names; so rich versus my little bank of memories. Ms. Stone has given us a full-throated, real, very detailed, and at times, happy and sad biography of her work, family and life. She has found solace and joy though through Buddhist principles and the joy of serving! Talking, listening and sharing is key...of course...then 'doing.' Listen and learn from this woman! She is brilliant and has a lot to say! It is important that you read all of this book which culminates in the last chapters and Me Too.

Sharing a special journey with us
I enjoyed her learning and discussing so many things that happened to her - before and after the stroke. I loved her stories about helping others, the poser of meditation, and the joy of learning who loves you.
She didn’t have a blessed childhood but she was blessed to be beautiful and that was her ticket out. That she chose to learn and grow and be compassionate is amazing.

This girls’s courage and the respect she had for herself
I learned a lot about Sharon Stone’s life … it wasn’t all fairytales and silver spoons. But Sharon was a very strong person… even as a young girl… the last four or five chapters put the whole story together beautifully… I only wish I had the opportunity to to read a book like this when I was in my early 30’s. A lot to learn in this book… thank you Sharon…

Elegance, Intelligence, Truth
Geez... what an interesting lady, an interesting journey, and an interesting perspective on life!... Quirky and graceful, Colourful and witty, Gracious and solemn. The non-linear style of story-telling kept me listening and intrigued... and enlightened. I feel her self-awareness, and her giving spirit, have made this world a better place. You don't need to be a Rocket Scientist, or the Pope, or the Dalai Lama, to make a special difference; it isn't her movie-star-status that matters, it's Sharon's human-being-status that is the contribution...her kindness, her giving, her LOVE to people and communities she cherishes. Bravo Sharon! I'd be happy to read and hear more from Sharon, her insightful thoughts, views, and wisdoms, are a gift. Namaste!
