About this listen

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview.

Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment.

I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut.

As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss.

Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Okay, so maybe I hadn’t exactly been changing when he walked in on me. In my defense, I’d been stuck on a hot train for two hours and wanted to make sure I didn’t smell.

I obviously didn’t expect to get the job. But somehow an invitation to a second interview arrived in my inbox.

Before I left, I asked to see Merrick. I needed to know why I was even in consideration after our disastrous start.

Turned out, Merrick only wanted to hire me because I was the least competent candidate. It seemed his board was making him fill the position, against his wishes.

I didn’t really want to work in a place where my boss expected me to fail. But I figured maybe I’d enjoy proving him wrong. It was a little thing I dubbed the boss project.

What I wasn’t prepared for was that there would be other things I’d enjoy doing to Merrick Crawford.

Getting involved with the boss wasn’t the smartest choice.

But you know what they say about choices: Some we regret, some we are proud of. I just had no idea where this one was going to land.

The perfect slow burn workplace romance!

I have been down a Vi Keeland rabbit hole and loving it. This was such a great audio, I loved the narrators, they really brought the characters to life!

Everly is a newly single and to say she has had a rough year would be an understatement. Hoping her luck turns around soon, she's determined to have her next job interview go well, only to come to the embarrassing realization that she has already met her potential new boss, in a men's dressing room. To make mattes worse, he’s a rude, arrogant and seems to know just how to push her buttons, so to her utter surprise she is called back for a second interview. Now she is determined to prove herself to this gorgeous jerk. Merrick, who owns one of the most successful hedge funds on Wall Street, is all business and no play, much to the stress of his employees. So when he is forced to hire a therapist to deal with on the job stress, he decides to take a gamble and choose the least qualified for the job, who also happens to be a family friend of his grandmother's. But there is something about Everly he just can't resist.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one, Everly and Merrick had great chemistry and banter and they had me laughing out loud on a few occasions. I did enjoy the slow build of their relationship, which made it feel more realistic and just gave way to some great tension. I also adored Grams and only wished she was in it more as she was a hoot and a half! Overall fantastic story that I didn't want to stop listening to!

Narrator

Great narrators…. Big deal for me cause if the narrator is bad it doesn’t matter if the book is good or not. Good book great narrators!
