About this listen

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From “a legal literary legend” (USA Today) comes a gripping thriller of two childhood friends who find themselves on opposite sides of the law as adults, with all of John Grisham’s trademark twists and turns.

For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Keith Rudy and Hugh Malco grew up in Biloxi in the sixties and were childhood friends, as well as Little League all-stars. But as teenagers, their lives took them in different directions. Keith’s father became a legendary prosecutor, determined to “clean up the Coast.” Hugh’s father became the “Boss” of Biloxi’s criminal underground. Keith went to law school and followed in his father’s footsteps. Hugh preferred the nightlife and worked in his father’s clubs. The two families were headed for a showdown—one that would ultimately happen in a courtroom.

Life itself hangs in the balance in The Boys from Biloxi, a sweeping saga rich with history and with a large cast of unforgettable characters.

Don’t miss John Grisham’s latest novel, Camino Ghosts, and the upcoming Framed, his first work of nonfiction since The Innocent Man!

Makes me want to visit the coast.

Very entertaining. Wanted to keep listening.
Rarely give a 5/5 so this one was pretty good.
Great ending.
Not sure I would call it a Legal Thriller. Not much court room.

Another great Grisham read

Although detailed and hard to capture the focus of the story at the beginning with so many historical players and relational connections, everything came together and played out amazingly midway through the book. The ending was classic and left the reader wanting more

Boys from Beloxi

Creative and captivating. Narrators accents and cadence carried the storyline. Ending was carefully crafted to allow for resolution

Michael Beck is the best

Even in a pedestrian story like this one, the draw for me is immersion in the Deep South, and no one takes me there better than Mr Beck, and his collection of Southern voices.

Not one of Grisham’s finest!

First quarter a history lesson on Biloxi. Moved at a drawl. The good guys are really good and the bad guys are horrible, don’t seem real. Wouldn’t recommend this read.

As usual, Mr. Grisham is a master!! The story is great with lost of legal details.

Struggled to finish

Not sure if it was just that I did not enjoy the narrator...seemed a mismatch for the story...or if the book kind of rambled on without getting to the point. wasted a credit on this one.
