About this listen

Australian crime reporter Maddie Grey is out of her depth in New York, miserable, and secretly drawn to her powerful, twice-married media mogul boss, Elena Bartell, who eats failing newspapers for breakfast. As work takes them to Australia, Maddie is goaded into a brief, seemingly harmless bet with her enigmatic boss - where they have to tell the complete truth to each other. It backfires catastrophically.

Contains mature themes.

Best ice queen f/f!!

Omg this was so good! So many funny witty moments. But then again, this is a Lee Winter story, so should I be surprised that I ALSO loved this one?

The dialogue between all characters was believable and entertaining (ie no bland conversations where all character talk like each other). Other than the two protagonists, the French mother/daughter have to be my favs; their well-intentioned schemes were so funny!!

The narrator, Angela Dawe, was of course amazing (per usual)! Her nuanced performance and accents were so good!

You won't regret listening to this!

Don't miss out.

Loved this book. listened to it 3 times in a row... I know who has the time and thank you Covid.... About the book, Not sure what really pulled me in and The powerhouse boss or the unrelenting employee. However so many great aspects from new friendships to love it is a great book.

Totally deserved a sleepless night

Being true to yourself and others, as tough as it appears, shapes a better world. Human connection just gains from it. Always.

Slow burn, talented and sultry narrator

A beautiful and engaging story. Two lonely people isolated by completely different circumstances (and themselves) find an unexpected connection. I particularly liked that the characters grew to be more suited to each other over time.

The narration was superb. Dawe does guiless and sophisticated equally well, has good comedic timing, and puts all the emotion you could want into the expected elements of a romance from fights to longing and passion.
