Publisher's Summary

Jess Carter wasn't looking for a place to belong when she arrived in Banks, Idaho. It was supposed to be a temporary spot to finish out her last year of high school and bond with her dad. Meeting Dom changed everything.

Now, the Pack needs her. Dom needs her. And she's figuring out she needs them if they plan to survive what's coming.

A challenge has been issued, and if the Pack doesn't respond, they'll be seen as weak. With the motel at capacity, they have a lot to lose if the challenge coming their way isn't met.

Caleb is struggling, Anna is absent, and Sam refuses to see her brother or father. Can Jess bring them together before the Hanleys finish tearing them apart?

Contains mature themes.

good story but just okay naration

it's a good story but drags on a little and jumps in many places. male narration could be improved on, the voice is to soft.

Story improved, TERRIBLE male voice

Female narrator has sunken comfortably into her reading, but I hate the fluctuations in the male reader's voice. His voice would suit nature shows, but Alphas and Betas need much lower toned, gruffer, huskier, more evened out voices than this guy has to offer. It's frankly hard to focus on the words for the chapters with the male voice.

This series would suit a mature but YOUNGER audience. Main character is still rather immature in some of her ways.

Good book but not a fav series so far.

I found it odd that the second book continues with the main characters from the first but I don't mind it because we get to hear about the entire pack still. It's also very weird that we didn't hear the male narration until chapter 12! I don't care for for the voice either but its not horrible...Definitely not a beta/alpha voice but is strong and calm.

No spice just a slow burn & simple story

I’m extremely thankful that this author didn’t have a 17/18 year old sleeping with her teacher, but now that she’s graduating I would like things to pick up.
The characters in the story are good but the overall storyline is very basic not terrible but extremely predictable and slow going.
It’s an easy relaxed kind of read.

Way better shifter series out there.

Aside from the hormonal/pheromonal attraction to the main character I don't understand why Dom would be into the main character. He's written as an accomplished respected leader with the physicality of a demigod. She constantly chastises him for being overbearing and protective yet literally only is alive because of him. This ingratitude consistently grates on my enjoyment of the book. It doesn't help that she only has two modes of thinking; Sarcasm and lustful.

The performance is lacking, but they can only work with what they are given I suppose.

I rarely write negative reviews, especially for a free book.
