Publisher's Summary
The Instant New York Times Best Seller!
“Sublime ... Colgan infuses her latest book with humor, wit, suspense and a perfectly cast love triangle.” (USA Today)
"The Christmas Bookshop is literary hot chocolate with a bourbon shot: hot, sweet but with a surprising emotional kick." (The Times (UK))
Perfect for the holidays! A brand-new heartwarming Christmas novel from the beloved New York Times best-selling author of The Bookshop on the Corner and Christmas at the Island Hotel.
Laid off from her department store job, Carmen has perilously little cash and few options. The prospect of spending Christmas with her perfect sister Sofia, in Sofia’s perfect house with her perfect children and her perfectly ordered yuppie life, does not appeal.
Frankly, Sofia doesn’t exactly want her prickly sister Carmen there, either. But Sofia has yet another baby on the way, a mother desperate to see her daughters get along, and a client who needs help revitalizing his shabby old bookshop. So Carmen moves in and takes the job.
Thrown rather suddenly into the inner workings of Mr. McCredie’s ancient bookshop on the picturesque streets of historic Edinburgh, Carmen is intrigued despite herself. The store is dusty and disorganized, but undeniably charming. Can she breathe some new life into it in time for Christmas shopping? What will happen when a famous and charismatic author takes a sudden interest in the bookshop - and Carmen? And will the Christmas spirit be enough to help heal her fractured family?

I'm standing alone in front of the famous Vivant department store, when a charming man named Aiden asks my opinion of the décor. It's a tragedy in tinsel, I say, unable to lie. He asks for a better idea with a twinkle in his eye. Did I know he owned the place? No. He put me on the spot. Now I'm working for that man, trying to ignore that he's hot. But as a down on her luck girl with a difficult past, I know an opportunity when I see one—and I have to make it last.

A PERFECT Christmas Story
I love Jenny Colgan novels and adored every minute of this audiobook! The story is endearing, hopeful, with the perfect amount of romance, and paints a stunning picture of Edinburgh at Christmas time. The narrator's performance was top-notch, her voice is delightful to listen to and the character voices she did were wonderful. It will leave you smiling and in the holiday spirit. I can't recommend it enough and will be listening to it again!

Very Entertaining
This was my first book by Jenny Colgan and I can’t wait to enjoy more! The narration was great with only one of the voices slightly annoying but the story more than made up for it. I couldn’t put this one down and listened in record time. I highly recommend it!

It was okay
Main character is not very likable - she’s actually an obnoxious brat - and the narration only made it worse. Had some cute qualities, but I won’t be going after the sequels.

Realistic Family Drama and Intrigue at Christmas
I thought Eilidh Beaton’s narration was brilliant in how she modified her voice slightly to capture the idiosyncrasies of each character. This book was an absolute joy to listen to. Because of Eilidh’s talents, I think listening to her recite the book made it all the more enjoyable. I do not think I could have done justice to all of the characters in my head. After listening to The Christmas Bookshop, I can still hear the characters’ voices so beautifully created by Eilidh. Jenny Colgan was able to create relatable characters who continue to develop throughout her story. Her detailed descriptions transport you into the story, so that you are there on the sidelines watching everything happen. There are six degrees of separation, which Jenny manages to wrap up into one big Christmas parcel. Thank you to Jenny for this story and to Eilihd for making all of the characters so memorable.

Fabulous
I have listened to this book three times I must get a hard copy. I love it. Genuine accents, lovely setting. Really makes one feel they are the main character. It made you feel right at home and if you happen to be any age trying to find one's self I think anyone will be able to relate to the main character if they feel they are not on their real path in life as many of us find. And you just felt they were real and you were secretly seeing into the lives of these sisters. It was an absolute delight and great fun! Loved the end!

Perfect Christmas Romance read
I have enjoyed all the Christmas books this author has written and this one is no exception. Loved the relationship between Mr mcreaty and Carmen the most. Only down side is I didn’t love the romantic interest. But actually didn’t feel like that was the center of this story anyway! Adorable with lots of Christmas feels!
