Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants - rather than the BFG - she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!

But then Santa rocks the North Pole with a surprise announcement! Loved by the whole family!
My 10, 8, and 7 year old kids all ask for just one more chapter! My husband and I are enjoying it, too. The narration and character voices are fantastic! The beginning has some emotionally heavy events and we were doubting our choice in making this our Christmas read aloud, but push through-it does become an epic adventure with cliffhangers at every chapter. You'll never think about lost items the same again!

A Big Hit with my Seven-Year-Old
Once my seven-year-old daughter learned I had purchased this book she was very excited to start it. She finished it in a matter of days and is already giving it another listen. I didn’t get to hear much of the novel, but it seemed like a really good story for kids. The voice work and background sounds were really well done, top notch!
