Publisher's Summary

Disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon must get from Washington to L.A. in time for Christmas. Forced to take the train across the country because of a slight "misunderstanding" at airport security, he begins a journey of self-discovery and rude awakenings, mysterious goings-on and thrilling adventures, screwball escapades and holiday magic. He has no idea that the locomotives pulling him across America will actually take him into the rugged terrain of his own heart, as he rediscovers people's essential goodness and someone very special he believed he had lost.

Equal parts hilarious, poignant, suspenseful, and thrilling, David Baldacci's The Christmas Train is a delightful journey filled with memorable characters who have packed their bags with as much wisdom as mischief...and a story that shows how we do get second chances to fulfill our deepest hopes and dreams, especially during this season of miracles.

Great new Christmas Tradition

I listened to The Christmas Train last Christmas as I was baking cookies. Could not bake my Christmas cookies without this story. I love the intrigue, the romance, the joy of the season. A story of how we all come together when it is most needed, especially at Christmas.

Pretty great Christmas story!

Overall I really enjoyed this story. From the beginning I really liked the main characters Tom and Eleanor and the other characters are really nice and complementary too.

The only part I did not like was the ending, although it is not predictable at all, it actually takes away the element of natural love and destiny (from my perspective).

Best Christmas trip ever. Excellent movie also

I have seen the movie 3 times and read the book twice so far. Engaging people, with interesting back stories, and no sappy boy meets girl. Light comedic situations and some tensions.

Christmas on the rails

This is a great Christmas story. And a great train ride from the past. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the people and the history of rail travel. Throw in some drama and a vicious storm and you’ve got some interesting twists.
