True courage

Love the acting and storyline was a little predictable - but still holds up to be intriguing. I hope it translates into a series.

Anticipating the release of the forthcoming installment.

The plot's development and the gradual revelation of the story through each chapter are both very appealing to me. The actors have all done an excellent job of portraying their characters. I eagerly anticipate the upcoming book's continuation of the story.

Well picked cast

It’s a simple story and an easy listen. Great dramatization with a strong cast. The story was all told at the beginning so it didn’t really build up to a dramatic climax, so was reliant on the voice actors pulling it altogether.

Aaron Paul is the man

Aaron Paul really stood out and it was interesting to see him paired with Kristen Ritter again. But the story was not memorable. Just a good way to pass time on a road trip.

Entertaining Listen

This is the first time that I've indulged in a James Patterson book and I quite like his writing! I found the book entertaining, engaging and I loved the twists and turns.

The all star cast was great for this narration and I'm a big fan of all the sound effects giving a more encompassing feel for the story.

I plan to listen to more of this series.

Implausible. Well-acted.

Aaron Tracy and Ryan Silbert - writing a television screenplay-like radioplay using James Patterson characters - deliver a breakneck-paced crime thriller about revenge. Twin brother-sister Chicago PD Detectives Billy and Patti Harney investigate and work to rescue their abducted dad, retired Chief of Detectives Dan Harney. A convoluted case from 40 years past inspires a murderous plot to destroy the Harney family.
The twisty-turny case captivates - but holes in logic and eye rolling improbability are almost overwhelming. It is fortunate that the authors move the story along so fast that readers/listeners don't have time to consider the stoopid before the next scene is underway.

Also fortuitously for consumers: the full cast - featuring Aaron Paul, Krysten Ritter, and Beau Bridges - is outstanding. Even cameo comedian Patton Oswalt is impressive (despite some stilted written dialogue).
Ambient sounds, incidental music, and sound effects are furthermore impeccable (although Audible Originals sound engineers suppress the volume of gunshots and the occasional explosion for some reason).

Altogether, the unrelenting pacing and unimpeachable performance quality largely make up for the deficiencies in 'The Past Has A Long Memory'. The recording rates 6 stars out of 10.

Super performance

Billy and Patty’s performance were again incredible. It felt so real and natural. The characters just come alive with the voices. I did not feel overjoyed about the storyline. A killer is a killer (chief if detectives) and should face Justice not only his word that he has been atoning for the mistake. The law is the law and your position should not make you above it

Dramatization, not an audiobook

The story is alright, but the characters are one dimensional. It's hard to believe Patty is a detective with her shitty attitude. She's not spunky, she's a jerk.
The villian is ridiculous.
