About this listen

Before the marriage of Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo, another suitor threatened to derail their star-crossed romance. . . .

Seeking rich, powerful allies to bring into the Rebel Alliance and a new home planet for the refugees from her native Alderaan, Princess Leia considers a proposal that could tip the balance of power against the evil Empire. The Hapes Consortium of 63 worlds is ruled by the Queen Mother, who wants Leia to marry her son, the dashing and wealthy Prince Isolder.

Han Solo has always dreamed of marrying Leia himself, and now he makes a desperate, final gamble to win her back. Tricking Leia into accompanying him, Han flees with her to the beautiful and untamed planet Dathomir, where he hopes to win her heart.

Fearing the imperious queen’s reaction to Han’s rash move, Luke Skywalker forms an unlikely alliance with Prince Isolder to track down the runaways. Soon Isolder, Luke, and Artoo will be at the center of an adventure leading to an awesome treasure, a group of Force-trained “witches,” and a showdown with an invincible foe.

This Did Not Deserve A Fresh Audiobook

Words cannot describe how much I despise this novel as a whole. Leia and Han act completely out of character and the very morals of it are warped. Leia is an unfaithful, cruel, vain, and petulant witch of a person who abuses and bullies and nearly cuckolds Han all to set up a pointless and forced love triangle. Han is made out to be the bad guy and Leia never is called out on how vile she is towards him. I hate this novel to my core and only got it to support the efforts of bringing truly worthwhile legends material to the audible platform. The production values of the recording itself are great my issues lie with this garbage that isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Han Solo! What a man! Solo! Solo!

The overall story with the witches is great, the few bits of humour made me burst out laughing.

The characterization of Han and Leia however was terrible and at times very forced to the point of painful, quite removed from the rest of their EU adaptations.

Narration is good in the overall story and the lines of the female characters, very well done with Leia and the witches in particular having such a wide range of feeling and emotions. For the male characters however, it take a huge hit, Han’s lines I can get since it’s his worse portrayal imo, but Luke as portrayed in the story was sound and in line with his character, but the acting had him always very emotional, even in calm scenes where he is trying to soothe and be instructive, where in scenes where he is low, instead of the doubting, sometimes soft boy we’ve come to know, he’s shown as exasperated, I found myself overlapping the acting in my mind with how they made him sound in I, Jedi especially in his low moments, and it made it worlds better.

Overall, I enjoyed the book once they got out of Coruscant and made planetfall in Dathomir, too bad that’s halfway through the story, it saved the book, the love story could have definitely been handled better had they been portrayed like rational adults and not petty children.

Honorable mention goes to the best wingman in the galaxy, out of left field and never in a million years would I have imagined it. C-3PO, unearthed a forgotten royal lineage and made it his absolute mission to make sure everybody knew about it on live TV

Amazing to see!

This is a pretty good book from the old expanded universe! I’m glad to see Disney has made an unabridged version of this book. My only criticism is that January’s voices for Han and Luke are a bit hard to get used to. Otherwise I’d say keep going Disney! Please get the rest of legends out as unabridged audio books!
