After the outstanding first novel, this second installment was a real disappointment. The story wanders through endless twists, subplots, and dead ends, only to arrive at an underwhelming conclusion. Much of it feels repetitive and padded, lacking the emotional depth and quiet intelligence that made the first book so memorable. Bruno remains a likable character, but he deserves a stronger mystery than this.
