About this listen
Fans of Bridgerton will fall in love with this sparkling Regency romance from best-selling author Jane Ashford! The duke of Tereford is accustomed to getting his own way, but she's going to teach him a thing or two about love....
James Cantrell, the new duke of Tereford, has inherited a dukedom in disarray and is overwhelmed by his unaccustomed responsibilities. Then he gets an idea. Cecelia Vainsmede served as liaison between James and her father, and she knows a great deal about business matters, his own in particular. She's also quite pretty. Ever the pragmatist, he suggests a marriage of convenience.
Cecelia has always been good at working with James, but she doesn't understand how he can be so obtuse. He clearly doesn't realize that he's the duke she's always wished for, or that his offer is an insult. But when a German prince arrives in London and immediately sets out to woo Cecelia, James will have to come to terms with what he really feels for her. Is running away worth the cost of losing her, or will the duke dare to win her once and for all?

A great well plotted listen
That leads to a series where we see these characters repeatedly throughout several books.
The reader is great. Perhaps not the most original plot but in the bigger picture, it introduces a couple we see repeatedly throughout so many other novels, and the reason for that begins in this book.
I have them all. I love them.

Classic tale
Enjoyable, but nothing new. Could probably be described as Bridgerton without the sex.
I’m intrigued enough by the characters to want to read the following books.
Rosalyn Landor is awesome, as always.

Not bad, but ending left a lot to be desired
I loved like 80% of this story. Perhaps even 85%. I liked the bonds that the women characters made, and I really was pleased with the character development of both protagonists. However, the resolution of the story felt… unresolved. I got to the end of the book and was immediately like, “Wait — that’s it?” I’m hoping to see James and Cecilia throughout the other books in this series, because I really do like them, but I feel like there needed to be more to finish their story.
