About this listen

The 6:20 Man is back, dropped by his handlers into a small coastal town in Maine to solve the murder of a CIA agent who knew America’s dirtiest secrets—can Travis Devine uncover the truth before his time runs out?

When CIA operative Jenny Silkwell is murdered in rural Maine, government officials have immediate concerns over national security. Her laptop and phone were full of state secrets that, in the wrong hands, endanger the lives of countless operatives. In need of someone who can solve the murder quickly and retrieve the missing information, the U.S. government knows just the chameleon they can call on.

Ex-Army Ranger Travis Devine spent his time in the military preparing to take on any scenario, followed by his short-lived business career chasing shadows in the deepest halls of power, so his analytical mind makes him particularly well-suited for complex, high-stakes tasks. Taking down the world’s largest financial conspiracy proved his value, and in comparison, this case looks straightforward. Except small towns hold secrets and Devine finds himself an outsider again.

Devine must ingratiate himself with locals who have trusted each other their whole lives, and who distrust outsiders just as much. Dak, Jenny’s brother, who’s working to revitalize the town. Earl, the retired lobsterman who found Jenny’s body. And Alex, Jenny’s sister with a dark past of her own. As Devine gets to know the residents of Putnam, Maine, answers seem to appear and then transform into more questions. There’s a long history of secrets and those who will stop at nothing to keep them from being exposed. Leaving Devine with no idea who he can trust... and who wants him dead.

Interesting story, all the tragedy in small town

Disappointed in the lack of New England accents sounded more like Montana, I like Baldacci but this is one of his weaker ones

Great story and narrating

The story got off to an intriguing start immediately and kept going. Loved it and would definitely recommend.

Fast paced with divergent story lines

I enjoyed the fact that there was a lot going on in the small town and not all the mini storylines were connected. Looking forward to the next book.

Better than book one

I enjoyed the story. It was better than the first book in the series. I am not sure it was necessary to have the book ends of another story in this one to have me buy the next book.

Gives a great perspective of a small town in Maine.

The story has lots of twists and turns, likely too many. The story itself wasn’t that compelling. Certainly not the best of Baldacci.

Baldacci Disappoints

I have read / listened to almost all of David Baldacci's books and must say this was a major disappointment. The story was dragged on with superfluous information and a very weak plot / storyline. The main narrator's (Devine's character) delivery was pretty flat and emotionless. The first 6:20 man book was great and its sad this rambled through - oh for the heydays of Robie & Reel, or the Cactus Club, with their faster paced story telling, impactful information in each paragraph and great narration by Ron McClarty, Orlagh Cassidy, Kyf Brewster.....

Could not finish -- boring.

I made it to chapter 14 in over a month's time. I could not get into the book.

I have read all of Mr. Baldacci's books and usually annot put them down. this one was the opposite. I could put it down for weeks.

I don't like our new hero. He is boring.

I am so sorry I don't want to read it anymore. I waited weeks to get it. I need to know who our hero is before ordering the next novel.

Of note I couldn't read the first book with this hero. he is dull.

Apologies.
