Summary

Gabby Mays wishes she had her future figured out, like her gorgeous roommate Anna-Marie, who has just landed a role on the hit soap opera Passion Medical. Gabby would give anything to find a career she’s half as passionate about as Anna-Marie is about acting - and a love life that isn’t comprised of nights with a party-sized bag of Doritos and her Netflix account.

When Gabby becomes a recurring extra on Passion Medical, she finds a job she’s surprisingly great at. Even better, her old crush and ex-boss - the sexy, sweet Will Bowen - is writing the scripts, allowing Gabby lots of quality flirting time at the craft services table.

But between feuding divas, fake Emmys, and Gabby’s growing concern that Will might not see her as anything more than a friend, her life on set is quickly becoming a drama worthy of the soaps.

The Extra is a stand-alone romance novel with PG-13 rated content, no cliffhanger, and a swoon-worthy happily-ever-after.

Gabby is struggling to figure out what she wants to do with her life, when she lands a recurring role as an extra on soap opera. Surprisingly, it is something that she is good at and leads to her figuring out what “career” she actually wants. Along the way, her life becomes as crazy as the daytime drama she is on – her ex-boss (and the guy she had a crush on) is a writer on the show and she flirts with him daily, the catch, he’s engaged; her family of “perfect” people is falling apart; and there is just as much shenanigans going on off camera as there is on.

Gabby is such a relatable character in both her struggles and her reactions to her life. She’s always felt like an outsider in her own family, only to find out that though they may all appear perfect on the surface, underneath they are all screwed up. While it takes Gabby fighting for her best-friend for her to find “herself” it was very rewarding to see the growth that she goes through in accepting herself and changing how she sees herself. The story had me laughing out loud. As well as shouting YES!!!! Several times. The Extra is a very good book and I’m looking forward to reading the next 2 books in the series.
