Unusual
Interesting and unusual tale. The beginning really had me gasping for breath. The overall story was gripping. Good narration as well.

Disappointingly Ludicrous- But Passable
Anita Waller is a capable writer: offering well-thought-out, intensely true-to-life character explorations with creditable prose/vocabulary, vivid description, and guy-at-the-end-of-the-bar dialogue.
This novel is no different - having a strikingly authentic aura.. but I had difficulty suspending disbelief. The character of 'Janette Gregson' - a victim of rape who hid her rapist's murdered body in her cellar (without any police investigation for some reason), delivered her own baby (after reading a couple of books), and "raised" the rape baby in, basically, a closet (without anyone noticing) is cartoonish. When the child is rescued, adopted, and raised as 'Marta Needham', her concealed Multiple Personality Disorder and sociopathic scheming is hard to swallow - there is ZERO chance that someone this pathologically disturbed would be a functioning daughter & student. Add an incestuous step-parent plotline, and I was too frequently taken out of the illusion of reality by jaw-dropping assertions.
Fortuitously for audiobook aficionados: we are treated to a quality listening product - mixed, edited, and presented beautifully by Boldwood Books sound engineers.
Less fortunately, reader Marie Lawrence exhibits undeniably professional narration chops (commendable diction, timbre, cadence, and tone).. but uninspired voice-acting and frequent moderately annoying mispronunciations. In toto, I rate the narration as solidly "average" (another reader could easily have been similarly effective).
Altogether, 'The Family At No.12' is one of Waller's weaker Psychological Suspense books - meriting 6 stars out of 10. I was pleased to have gotten it as a 'Plus' selection.. but recommend spending your Credit elsewhere should they ask for one.

Intriguing & disturbing
This is a very dark & at times disturbing story; however, I endured because I was curious about the ending & how the main character would overcome childhood trauma. This is the 3rd book I’ve read from my new favourite author. Well narrated but I always struggle when a woman voices a man & vice versa (any narrator).

Captivating and suspenseful
This book was so unexpectedly thrilling!Loved it from beginning to end. Beautifully written and wonderfully narrated. Very climatic ending as well and the Epilogue was very good brought it all together but I was a bit disappointed. Will definitely look for more books by this Author. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Audible Plus.

Good start
Really enjoyed the first half of the book! Then it kind of turned into a different story that was just okay

The end disgusted me.
I couldn’t have been more disappointed in the ending of a book if I tried.

The beginning was good!
I was totally enjoying the story... till Child gets adopted.
So many interesting ways this story could have gone.
instead it became a boring drama.
I wish the story focused on Child and the damage of never seeing or knowing ANYTHING.
The ending was stupid. it had nothing to do with anything.
