About this listen
USA Today best-selling book!
Mike Majlak was a 17-year-old from a loving middle-class family in Milford, Connecticut, when he got caught up in the opioid epidemic that swept the nation. For close to a decade thereafter, his life was a wasteland of darkness and despair. While his peers were graduating from college, buying homes, getting married, having kids, and leading normal lives, Mike was snorting Oxycontin, climbing out of cars at gunpoint, and burying his childhood friends.
Unable to escape the noose of addiction, he eventually lost the trust and support of everyone who had ever loved him. Alone, with nothing but drugs to keep him company, darkness closed in, and the light inside him - the last flicker of hope - began to dim. His dreams, potential, and future were all being devoured by a relentless addiction too powerful to fight.
Despair filled him as he realized he wasn't going to survive. Somehow, he did. He not only survived, he thrived. Now, he's a social media personality with millions of followers and an entrepreneur, marketer, podcaster, YouTuber, and author who hopes to use his voice to shine a light for those whose own lights have grown dim. This is his story.

Story
This is a true story. A transparent story of the life of a young man in America, who, like many of our lost youth, found his way into the drug culture. This story is an autopsy into the mind, heart, and soul of an addict. It begins at childhood and takes us through the thoughts, turmoil, and inner conflicts of a person lost in the undercurrent of addiction, and ends in a climax of self-discovery and realization. It is a gripping tale of a suburban youth and his journey through the streets of Baltimore, institutions, prisons, addiction, and worst of all, his own mind.

Warning: This book is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any of your problems. In actuality, this book expresses all of the problems I've encountered in my life since I was a child. Hi, my name is Yousef Saleh Erakat a.k.a. Fousey. I am a YouTuber, actor, wannabe motivational speaker, artist, and a depressive with over 15 million total YouTube subscribers, a couple of Hollywood movies on my resume, some big awards on my shelf, and for the first time, I will be opening up about how I survived my struggles with depression, anxiety, fame, suicidal thoughts, and addiction.

Great experience especially since it was Mike’s voice.
You felt like you were there. It gave you an understanding of the struggles Michael went through and how lucky he was to still be where he is today. God was on his side even though I don’t recall him saying that in the book. It didn’t feel like 8 hours but I did enjoy listening to this audible recording over this past week. Thank you for sharing your story!
