Decent series but sometimes difficult to suspend disbelief

I enjoyed the world described, but found the action hero first person voice very stereotypical, sometimes straining credulity. The male protagonist surrounded by a supporting cast of mostly female characters that he just can’t seem to understand is such a tired old trope. A series written for the 1950’s or perhaps for a neoconservative sensibility. Yet still enjoyable, if you can ignore the teen spirit covered by body spray.
