About this listen

"Boasting Carrie Hope Fletcher's no-nonsense British accent and Kwaku Fortune's mild Irish brogue...the audio version brings this butterfly-inducing romantic read to life." (Paste)

What if your roommate is your soul mate?
A joyful, quirky romantic comedy, Beth O'Leary's The Flatshare is a feel-good audiobook about finding love in the most unexpected of ways.
Tiffy and Leon share an apartment. Tiffy and Leon have never met.
After a bad breakup, Tiffy Moore needs a place to live. Fast. And cheap. But the apartments in her budget have her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on the walls counts as art.
Desperation makes her open minded, so she answers an ad for a flatshare. Leon, a night shift worker, will take the apartment during the day, and Tiffy can have it nights and weekends. He'll only ever be there when she's at the office. In fact, they'll never even have to meet.
Tiffy and Leon start writing each other notes - first about what day is garbage day, and politely establishing what leftovers are up for grabs, and the evergreen question of whether the toilet seat should stay up or down. Even though they are opposites, they soon become friends. And then maybe more.
But falling in love with your roommate is probably a terrible idea...especially if you've never met.
Praise for The Flatshare:
"With likable main characters, spot-on dialogue, a fun premise, and plenty of drama, there's a lot to like in this sweet story. A warm, enchanting love story, perfect for fans of classic rom-coms." (Kirkus Reviews)
"The Flatshare is a huge, heartwarming triumph." (Josie Silver, number one New York Times best-selling author of One Day in December)

Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

Fun and Touching with Lovable Characters
I LOVED this book! The narration from both narrators was fantastic. The two main characters were believable, lovable people that I was happy to spend 9.5 hours with. The storyline was engaging and sufficiently different from your usually romantic comedy to feel fresh. If you enjoyed “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” or Sophie Kinsella’s “My (Not So) Perfect Life”, you will probably also like this book. I’m certain that I will listen to it again within the next few weeks.

Finally a Romantic Interest of Colour
I almost never come across contemparary books that are willing to make a romantic interest a darker skin tone. This is refreshing as hell. I loved the plot and the characters had unique personalities. I would happily re-read. This is a feel good book.

Brilliant debut novel
Beth O'Leary has written a gem of a modern rom com that hits all the right notes. It deals with friendship, romance, work, family (and troubled ex-boyfriends) with heart, humor, and very snappy writing. I loved the quirky, funny, and relatable characters. I didn't want this book to end, and I can't for her next one!

Perfectly balanced rom/com
I was looking for a somewhat lighter read to rip through. This book delivered.
Typically with rom/coms I spend an absurd amount eye rolling at the ridiculously unbelievable love-stories.
This felt very believable, especially the part about sharing the bed/flat in London. Have you seen the price of rentals?!

Very cute romantic story
It’s rare to find a love story that’s well written and isn’t too corny. This book was a pleasant surprise. Easy and cute story, likeable realistic characters and an original idea. Great for a couple of lazy afternoons or if you want something to put you in a good mood.

Enjoyable Listen
I have been listening to a lot of very serious books lately and I wanted something more lighthearted. This did the trick. It was well written, had some thoughtful serious moments but it was mostly amusing and fun. The narration was just right and I fell in love with the characters. Overall, just what I needed. I would highly recommend.
