About this listen
When a brilliant scientist seeking to solve the problem of world hunger tries to create giant mushrooms through genetic manipulation, what could possibly go wrong?
The mutated spores escape the lab and spread across all of England. Toadstools grow to 20 feet tall, and a case of athlete's foot can mean a grisly and horrible death.
But those who die quickly are the lucky ones. Those who survive infection by the fungus will be transformed into something unthinkably monstrous...
With a perfect mix of nightmarish horror and black humor, Harry Adam Knight's cult classic The Fungus (1985) will grow on you.

Better then anything Stephen King has ever done!!!
Forget about the "OVERRATED" The Stand by Stephen King!
"The Fungus" by Harry Adam Knight is not ony 1000 times more scary, but 1000 times more beivable as well!

An Unhealthy obsession with sexual assault
I highly caution against the lisiting/reading of this title. While the core story of the fungal apocalypse is written with colourful and skilled detail, that detail is also applied to the frequent intermissions of increasingly abusive sexual scenes that add nothing to the novel. The final scene of r*pe(of which there are two) is one of the most unnecessarily repulsive scenes ever written. All female characters in the story are treated as nothing but sexual objects and possess little personalities other than what is required to enable the writter's disgusting fantasies.
I was thoroughly enjoying the apocalyptic horror story that was unfolding until these pointless r*pe scenes and random focuses of character's an*s' being intruded upon by fungus were thrust upon me. truly a tragic waste of a well written story.
