About this listen

The Fury of the Gods is the earth-shattering final book in John Gwynne's bestselling Norse-inspired epic fantasy series, packed with myth, magic and bloody vengeance.

The final battle for the fate of Vigrid approaches...

Varg has overcome the trials of his past and become an accepted member of the Bloodsworn, but now he and his newfound comrades face their biggest challenge yet: slaying a dragon.

Elvar is struggling to consolidate her power in Snakavik, where she faces threats from without and within. As she fights to assert her authority in readiness for the coming conflict, she faces a surely insurmountable task: reigning in the ferocity of a wolf god.

As Biórr and his warband make their way north, eager for blood, Guðvarr pursues a mission of his own, hoping to win Lik-Rifa’s favor and further his own ambitions.

All paths lead to Snakavik, where the lines are being drawn for the final battle—a titanic clash that will shake the foundations of the world and bear witness to the true fury of the gods.

Outstanding conclusion

I liked everything about this final entry in this series. By far the strongest book of the 3.

The Afterword has as much impact as the novel. Listen to it.

Very imaginative fantasy using Viking g as a starting point

Loved all three books but the narrator was mediocre. I would have loved to hear Bronson pinchot’s take on this. He did poul anderson’s the broken sword which is based on Norse saga tales and he deserves an audio book Oscar! The book itself and the whole bloodsworn trilogy are great. Violent, bloody fun, lots of twists and turns, some love, loss, sadness, revenging and John Gwynne sticks the landing on the trilogy in this third volume.

Utter Satisfaction

Perfection and well worth the wait. One of the most satisfying stories I have ever read with a finale perfectly crafted. This is my new favourite fantasy trilogy.

Does not disappoint!!

This whole series was just - incredible.
So familiar in that it’s set amongst Viking-like lore with familiar themes and cultures. However, his inspired world and take on it all - levelling up the fantasy in satisfying and awe inspiring ways, was just lovely to behold. Great characters, family, love, belonging - epic battles, vengeance and revenge, along with villainous antagonists you loved and hated.
A conclusion that leaves you satisfied, yet hoping for more of the world.
As a TTRPG fan - I’m sure I won’t be able to leave Mr. Gwynne’s world untouched. I’m certain to take strong inspiration from this tale to weave my own Tainted/God-Blooded campaign, and hopefully in doing so turn others towards this incredible story and John’s storytelling.
