Publisher's Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series continues in this “engrossing” novel (USA Today) as brilliant hacker Lisbeth Salander teams up with journalist Mikael Blomkvist to uncover the secrets of her childhood and take revenge. • Also known as the Millennium series

Lisbeth Salander—obstinate outsider, volatile seeker of justice for herself and others—seizes on a chance to unearth her mysterious past once and for all. And she will let nothing stop her—not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the world's most insidious problems.

What the critics say

"[Narrator Simon] Vance's extraordinary talent comes through in the tense dramatic scenes involving a research study of twins gone awry and in his special ability to differentiate men, women, young, and old from all over the globe." (AudioFile)

First half better than the first half of the last one

Lagercrantz hits his stride in the first half of the book and avoids some of the overplayed tropes that are prevalent in this series. The conclusion was a little lackluster for me but overall this was a good story and Simon Vance is as silk-voiced as ever.

One of the best

I love the whole series but this was definitely one of my favourites. I found it intriguing and enjoyed learning more about Salanders origin story

Dramatic and exciting!

The story continues seamlessly from where the previous book leaves off. The story line is compelling and fascinating with several surprising twists. Great read!

Wonderful story. Excellent read.

It’s always nice to have someone who can read Swedish names properly. That’s half the charm.

Great book

I really like the books. I only have one problem with them. When the person is reading it sounds like it is skipping. There are other voices in the background. It kind of takes away from the book.

Not the best of the series

This was an ok read. I expected to find out more about lizbeths back story, and Faria seemed almost a side note

Good read!

I love the girl with a dragon tattoo series.
The new books is great & I enjoyed this on too.
If I had a criticism it would be all if a sudden towards end, the time lines change.
Still can’t wait for third one.
I also liked the Swedish movies better than American one.

A strange choice of narrator.

The story appears to be moving further and further from Salandar herself. She does not feature as prominently as she does in the original books.

The choice of narrator I found to be somewhat off putting. While Vance was able to distinguish well between characters it comes across as if the story took place in early 1900s England. The only really Swedish feel was the expertly pronounced places.

Fantastic narration

I love the narration and the smooth easy voice pronouncing the Swedish terms perfectly. Recommend

Watch out for the cliffhangers.

This is as thrilling as any of the books, but much of the tension comes from the cliffhangers. The protagonist remains enigmatic and unapproachable.
