A love story unlike any other

I think one of the things I love the best is that the narrator and his companions all speak like real people. I can’t imagine myself in any one of their shoes. This is one of the few books that I will keep in my library because I intend to read it again

I really wanted to like it

The description of the story was compelling but the narration of it left me cold. I couldn't finish it which is pretty unusual for me. The characters didn't feel real.
