About this listen
“Rae Carson has proved she’s a master and has shaken up the YA genre.” (USAToday.com)
The first book in Rae Carson’s award-winning and New York Times best-selling trilogy!
The Girl of Fire and Thorns is a sweeping journey full of adventure, sorcery, heartbreak, and power. Fans of George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones and Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse will devour this fantasy series.
Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness. Elisa is the chosen one. But she has always felt powerless, useless. Now, on her 16th birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king - a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs her to be the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.
And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Fierce enemies, seething with dark magic, are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.
Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young. Most of the chosen do.

Loved it!!
Couldn't put it down, devoured it in 2 days and looking forward to the next book in the trilogy!! The main character's love of food is so relatable and the food references throughout the book are scrumptious!!!

Captivating
Just when I thought my heart could not be wrenched out of my chest more than once while listening to the same story, I was proved wrong, multiple times.
Rae Carson welcomes us to a world rich in vibrant life and devastation, hope and heartache, magic and sheer will of humanity. "The Girl of Fire and Thorns" is nothing short of adventure, intrigue, uniqueness and engrossing prose.
Highly recommend if you enjoy adventure, political intrigue, fascination with the unknown magic of the universe, earth, and the power we wield within ourselves, and powers we cannot explain.
Also, I absolutely love anything narrated by Jennifer Ikeda.. another great reading, so much emotion, character differentiation and life poured into the words.

Stunned
I am absolutely stunned and in awe of how amazing this story was and how deep it touched me. Though it took me a moment to become invested, I became so attached to the characters and the journey of such a dynamic and human heroine.
I smiled, laughed, cried and feared along with her and the fondness I hold in my heart for her is deep. This has become a favourite and I will return to it, something I rarely do with tales.
