About this listen
Baltimore - Kim and Sharon’s friendship spans from their small-town childhood through their college years. Now in their 30s, they appreciate each other more than ever as they navigate adulthood.
When Kim’s husband, Kevin, is killed in a home invasion, Sharon is there to help her friend through the grieving process. Months after his murder, the case remains unsolved. Kim is having a difficult time dealing with the loss and is encouraged to seek professional group therapy. Sharon, always the devoted friend, agrees, albeit somewhat reluctantly, to accompany Kim through her healing process. But as each therapy session goes by, troubling secrets Sharon has been hiding are revealed. It is the group counselor, Myron, who guides the women to healing and encourages them to find their own “Glorious Beyond”, an emotional bridge to acceptance and peace.
After a couple months, Kim begins to make progress, but Sharon’s past continues to haunt her. Both Kim and Sharon have difficulty accepting each other’s healing state. Kim doesn’t feel Sharon is truly doing everything she can to confront her demons and find peace. And Sharon feels her friend has fallen victim to a group of con artists and charlatans who are filling her mind with lies about a future that can never be. In an effort to face the secrets of her past, Sharon brings Kim on a visit to her birthplace. There, Kim discovers why Sharon cannot find peace - her friend’s dark secrets aren’t in her past. Rather, Sharon’s demons are very present, and their friendship may never recover.
The Glorious Beyond is a story of the power of friendship and the uncharted path to healing as two friends confront their past in an effort to find peace.
