About this listen

Here’s Parker—planning to steal the entire payroll of an Air Force base in upstate New York, with help from Marty Fusco, fresh out of the pen, and a smart-aleck finance clerk named Devers. Holed up with family in a scrappy little town, the hoisters prepare for the risky job by trying to shorten the odds. But the ice is thinner than Parker likes to think—and Marty’s ex-wife is much more complicated.

Obvious but still fun

While feeling out a new relationship at home, Parker teams with Fusco and Devers to steal the payroll from an upstate New York Air Force Base. Fusco is just out of jail and is both yappy and jumpy; plus he’s got an ex-wife who has no faith in him. Devers is an amateur and a smartass, and also sleeping with Fusco’s ex…and that drama might be the least of this gang’s issues, as she is very chatty with her therapist.

By now, Parker has achieved a zen approach to heists: every crew will have issues and it’s up to him to keep everyone in line so he can keep making money…or at least be prepared to pivot like crazy when it all inevitably falls apart. The story in this one is a little obvious from the start, but the climax is creative and the denouement is surprisingly sweet for a rough dude like Parker.
