More important, the novel is an eloquent hymn to the bookseller’s trade and a fervent plea for the revivifying and redemptive power of literature. Clever

This is the second book in the series and it makes more sense if you read Parnassus first (it’s charming). This was a fun story and a delight for book lovers. First published in 1919, the context right after WWI is particularly interesting, and there was some carryover. At first I found some of the anti-German language disconcerting, but it actually did a good job of reflecting the sentiment of the time.
