About this listen
Sadie has a gift. And she'll do anything to keep from using it.
At 16, Sadie Young had a brush with death, and as a result she became more sensitive to the supernatural. Rather than embrace this gift, she spent years running from it, and from the darkness that once preyed upon her.
Now 25 and working as a librarian, Sadie is called upon by a desperate family friend to look into a strange series of events. A teenaged girl has entered a reputedly haunted house in town and has gone mad. Committed, the girl attempts suicide and claims to be terrorized at all hours by a horrific specter known as "Mother Maggot".
Despite having subdued her gift for the past nine years, Sadie wishes to assist the girl and reticently agrees to visit the site of the haunting. But upon entering the house on Beacon Hill, she discovers that Mother Maggot isn't merely a figment of a disturbed teen's imagination....

Ugh.
I mean, it's free and I still had to stop listening. Why? Because the narrator is just awful. The word library and words related are in the story over and over again but what assaults listeners' ears? LIEBERRY and LIEBERRIAN. (Spelled them phonetically so you would get the gist of the stupidity.) I mean, aren't these audiobooks edited? OMG! Soooo, I cannot provide a review since I couldn't cope with the ridiculous narration.

Nothing new, but Enjoyable
First- if you're looking for a ghost story that will break the mold and try something new, this isn't it.
This is an enjoyable, quick little read with decent narration. It hits on all the classic 'haunted by a ghost' troupes you know (and love), but does so in a way that makes it feel like a fun campfire ghost story rather than a painful re-hash. (And an ending I both saw coming AND was surprised by!)
Worth a listen if you're in the right kind of mood.
