Charles Dickens wrote the "Disney" version of the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghosts that visited him. This is the "Brothers Grimm" version. Jacob Marley is not trying to save his friend from beyond the grave. The three ghosts Marley sends to Scrooge are not benevolent beings come to save a lost human soul.
The real story is as dark as a winter’s night. Sinister beings summoned by a dark heart are sent on a mission of murder and death. Ebenezer must fight for his life against monsters whom Marley controls by the possession of their names.
