About this listen
In honor of the 10-year anniversary of The Heroin Diaries, Nikki Sixx's definitive and best-selling memoir on drug addiction is now available on audio for the first time, read by Nikki Sixx! This shocking, gripping, and at times darkly hilarious memoir explores Nikki's yearlong war with a vicious heroin addiction. Now more than ever, with opioid addiction ravaging our country and rising by 20 percent in the past year alone, Nikki's story of both his descent into drug-addled decay and subsequent recovery and transition into a rehabilitation advocate is now more relevant than ever.
When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days - sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers - in a coke and heroin-fueled daze.
The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.
Here, Nikki shares the diary entries - some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre - of those dark times.
Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and surprisingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom - and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

amazing!
nikki is great at painting a picture of not just the wild rock and roll life but also the really sh***y times that can go along with it. he is a true testament that there IS life after heroine if you want there to be...

Sometimes tears of sadness, anger and compassion
I had read the book when it first came out. I wanted to know some of the “ins and outs “of someone who I had posters on my wall of. I had always heard tales of the “rock and roll” lifestyle but never really had a grasp of it...I still don’t but man, is this ever a crazy ride. Hearing Nikki read it in this audiobook is like a horrible dream/nightmare come true. As someone who has only seen people suffer from addiction in my family but never been a sufferer myself, it filled me with an immense sense of empathy and sadness. I celebrate anyone who has been an addict and managed to continue on and find their voice. To fight their way back. You are heroes and you are loved. I see you. We see you. You are important and you are beautiful ❤️

The best book i have ever read.
This book has helped me with my own struggle with depression, and given me the courage to not relapse into my old ways. It was also a glimpse into the life of the artist I idolize the most.

Perfectly perfect!
When the book originally came out, I hadn't heard of it but was a diehard Crue fan. I went on a vacation to see relatives, and it happened a younger cousin had bought it the day it came out! I found on the corner of the soaker tub when I went to the washroom. (apologies for that info..lol). You know it's a good book if it's a "tub book"! I read a bit, and an hour later, they came looking for me as I'd snuck into my room and was buried in this masterpiece! I read it in its entirety that night! Brutally honest, which is refreshing in these times! Most of my friends are Musicians, and I've watched some incredible talents lose their lives because of the lifestyle of living on the road. I'm excited to hear the story now; putting the voice to it, I'm sure, will be nothing less than amazing! Such a brilliant man in all aspects! Big love!🙏🏻😎🤘🏼🎸🎶

A whirlwind tale of addiction
Sixx is candid and raw, his story will grip you in many ways, and his recollection and performance of his diaries is perfect. The only thing awkward is that there's only 2 separate actors playing multiple roles as associates and family, and the only part that stuck out like a sore thumb was Sophie Kargman trying to do an accent. Beyond that, it's an almost Gonzo look into the mind of an addict on top of the world, and his journey to becoming who he wants to be. You don't wanna skip this one.
