About this listen
The Scottish Highlands, 1816.
Lady Sybil Lacey is every inch an English woman. She’s horrified her best friend is wedding a barbarian Scot. For aren’t Scots naught but brutish, whiskey-swilling lechers? So to find herself secretly attracted to the tall and devastatingly handsome Scottish laird of Bedlay Castle is quite disconcerting....
Liam MacBride is convinced that English ladies are silly sassenachs who think of nothing but social events and clothes. So why is he intensely drawn to Lady Sybil? All they do is quarrel...until loathing turns into undeniable lust.
A tempestuous, fiery romance between an English lady and a Scottish laird cannot end well.

Great little story
I really enjoyed this one although there just wasn’t enough to satisfy the end between the heroine and the mother. Also could have had a bit more sizzle but still a great read and great story.

Opposites Attract
This was another good read in the Marriage Mayhem Series. Sybil is searching for what some of her siblings have found – true love, and she finds it in the most unexpected place, Scotland. In this story, the hero falls first and wants marriage, in fact he proposes several times. It’s the heroine who is unsure and takes longer to convince. Both Sybil and Liam are strong, smart, kind-hearted, and stubborn characters. Liam is described several times as looking like a Scottish warrior and it fits.
I was hoping for a little more from this story than what I got. I’m not a fan of one issue being the continuous reason to keep the couple apart and that seemed to be the running theme in this story. Not that it isn’t a valid concern, I just wish there had been more or maybe handled differently.
Hutton does with this series what I love about connect books, the characters from the previous books, particularly the Duke’s Quandary are seen in subsequent books. The reader gets to hear and see where those characters are months/years later.
I listened to this book on audio and enjoyed the story. The narrator wasn’t bad although I did have a difficult time understanding the Scottish accent at times and this affected my enjoyment of the story.

The story was well done and as I like Scottish romance it was well received and would read another by the author
