Publisher's Summary

As a massive outbreak of supernatural visitors baffles Scotland Yard and causes protests throughout London, Lockwood & Co. continue to demonstrate their effectiveness in exterminating spirits. Anthony Lockwood is dashing, George insightful, and Lucy dynamic, while the skull in the jar utters sardonic advice from the sidelines. There is a new spirit of openness in the team now that Lockwood has shared some of his childhood secrets, and Lucy is feeling more and more as if her true home is at Portland Row. It comes as a great shock, then, when Lockwood and George introduce her to an annoyingly perky and hyperefficient new assistant, Holly Munro.

Meanwhile, there are reports of many new hauntings, including a house where bloody footprints are appearing and a department store full of strange sounds and shadowy figures. But ghosts seem to be the least of Lockwood & Co.'s concerns when assassins attack during a carnival in the center of the city. Can the team get past their personal issues to save the day on all fronts, or will bad feelings attract yet more trouble?

Danger abounds, tensions escalate, and new loyalties form in this third delightfully terrifying adventure in the critically acclaimed Lockwood & Co. series.

Great narration makes a good story even better

I do love these books and the narrator makes them even better. The reading is lively and committed (especially amusing with an unreliable narrator in-story experiencing things like jealousy and pettiness). The plot really picks up in book 3 as well and we see some important character development (and flaws). All in all very much a happy listener.

I was completely hooked.

a different narrator then the first 2 books in the series and the changes to Lockwood and George's voice was a little bit difficult for me to adjust too but the story is so captivating I had to stick with it. I am so impressed with this series it is currently my favorite and I have been suggesting it to everyone.

Another great Lockwood and Co story

As always with the Lockwood and Co books, you get to know the characters better and love them even more and each book. There’s always lots of action, and I find I am on the edge of my seat. Love the story, love the characters and can’t wait for the next book

A ghostly page turner

This third book was fast paced, funny, and packed with witty and interesting writing all to the end. The only bit that annoyed me was Lucy's character but it may well be for the sake of growth. Truly enjoyed this one in terms of plot. Gripped me from the beginning. Though I disliked the narrator's acting for Kipps and Lockwood as compared to the previous books, overall it was a good listen (I sped through it at 1.5-2x speed).
