Publisher's Summary

When 17-year-old Maddy Pruitt vanishes from her sleepy town, word on the street is that she ran away. The daughter of an abusive alcoholic with a quick temper, she had every reason to leave in search of something better, and everyone who knew Maddy knew the type of company she kept wasn't always ideal.

But when a second 17-year-old girl from a local, affluent family turns up missing shortly after Maddy's disappearance, the circumstances become suspicious. Even though the girls are perfect strangers from opposite sides of town, attended separate schools, and traveled in different social circles, it turns out they have more in common than anyone could have imagined.

With the clock ticking, those closest to the girls lead a frantic search, uncovering secrets, lies, and a web of deceit that might have the girls paying an ultimate price...if they don't find them in time.

Contains mature themes.

Not great

It felt like a story that was written and performed by high school students. it wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t great

Great listen

This is a plus catalogue gem. The story was good other than the lack of research or storyline behind the police work done with the crimes. I was able to easily overlook the fact that that part kind of made no sense bc I enjoyed the book though!

Lost potential.

The storyline jumped all over the place. There was absolutely no flow. The narration was pretty good though.

ummm... well....

Not really sure how to rate this one. The beginning and middle were good, but the end was terrible. Very much a "well, we better wrap this up" feeling to it. I wasn't a fan of the narration either. Just a so-so for me.

Good story weird ending.

I liked the overall story but it made no sense how they tied it up. The mother in this story, given the circumstances, would not have acted or ignored what took place after the disappearance.

it was ok

the voice actress for alegra was annoying, it was tough to get through. the others were fine though. the story started good but the constant jumping around was annoying and made it hard to follow. I finished the book feeling there were still unanswered questions. not sure if all loose ends were tied up or if I just missed a few parts. may be a better read then listen.

First half is very good

This was included in my membership thankfully. The first half is very good. Unfortunately the story ends up.dragging and then gets wrapped up very quickly in a implausible ending with major gaps in the storyline. If you have even rudimentary knowledge of police procedures, you end up scratching your head.

Better Read then Audible I find.

When listening to this story, I found the narration was performed without back ground information of what the book was about. Seemed they were reading it for the first time and not knowing where the book was going. No emotion.

The book itself was my first ready from Marin Montgomery. The story line was good and I believe I would have enjoyed it better by reading it myself.

Not sure I would listen to another.

oddly good

we follow the same character for quite a while then we dropped them for a while. really inconsistent comparison to other stories. but it was good and it all came together at the end. I really enjoyed it

all over the place

This story was jumping all over the place with minimal transitions. some of the voice actors were almost intolerable to listen to
