About this listen
Now a major motion picture from director Ridley Scott starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver
The sensational true story of murder, madness, glamour, and greed that shook the Gucci dynasty, now fully updated with a new afterword
On the morning of March 27, 1995, four quick shots cracked through Milan’s elegant streets. Maurizio Gucci, heir to the fabulous fashion dynasty, had been ambushed, slain on the steps to his office by an unknown gunman. Two years later, Milan’s chief of police entered the sumptuous palazzo of Maurizio’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani - nicknamed “the Black Widow” by the press - and arrested her for the murder.
Did Patrizia kill her ex-husband because his spending was wildly out of control? Did she do it because he was preparing to marry his mistress? Or is it possible Patrizia didn’t do it at all?
The Gucci story is one of glitz, glamour, and intrigue - a chronicle of the rise, near-fall, and subsequent resurgence of a fashion dynasty. Beautifully written, impeccably researched, and widely acclaimed, The House of Gucci is a pause-resisting account of high fashion, high finance, and heartrending personal tragedy.

Story
In addition to being among the most celebrated of contemporary filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is possibly the most joyously infectious movie lover alive. For years he has touted in interviews his eventual turn to writing books about films. Now, with Cinema Speculation, the time has come, and the results are everything his passionate fans—and all movie lovers—could have hoped for. Organized around key American films from the 1970s, all of which he first saw as a young moviegoer at the time, this book is as intellectually rigorous and insightful as it is rollicking and entertaining.

Steve Jobs called Jony Ive his “spiritual partner at Apple.” The London-born genius was the second-most powerful person at Apple and the creative force who most embodies Jobs’s spirit, the man who designed the products adopted by hundreds of millions the world over: the iPod, iPad, MacBook Air, the iMac G3, and the iPhone.

Story
DisneyWar is an enthralling tale of one of America's most powerful media and entertainment companies, the people who control it, and those trying to overthrow them. It tells a story that - in its sudden twists, vivid, larger-than-life characters, and thrilling climax - might itself have been the subject of a Disney classic - except that it's all true.

Story
In Oscar Wars, Michael Schulman chronicles the remarkable, sprawling history of the Academy Awards and the personal dramas—some iconic, others never-before-revealed—that have played out on the stage and off camera. Unlike other books on the subject, each chapter takes a deep dive into a particular year, conflict, or even category that tells a larger story of cultural change, from Louis B. Mayer to Moonlight. Schulman examines how the red carpet runs through contested turf, and the victors aren't always as clear as the names drawn from envelopes.

History of Gucci, loved it! "The House of Gucci."
I wanted to know the history of the Gucci family in depth before, watching the 2021 movie "The House of Gucci."
I enjoyed the audio book in all its detail and looking forward to the movie!

Fascinating!
I have to admit, I had NO IDEA how convoluted and messed up the Gucci family and business dynamics were prior to reading (audio listening) this book. I was completely fascinated listening to the ABSURD in-fighting of the family, and how diligently they spent all their time and energy on trying to take one another down rather than working together for the sake of the company.
Not to mention the incredibly soap opera-esq twist when we get to Patrizia murdering her ex husband out of pure jealousy and hate filled rage.
Everything about this book feels like it should be featured on afternoon soap opera drama, and like there is no way it's real.....but then you remember it's completely real and THAT is why this book is just a must have, compelling, totally guilty pleasure read.

Too Boring
I love these kind of stories, I couldn't wait to get into this book. It was so boring. I had to replay chapters many times as I lost interest or fell asleep. I thought it would be an amazing story, but sadly it was not.

Boring
What a mess of a family. Can’t believe they would allow this story to be told or why.
